The university operates shuttle bus services covering 19 routes with over 50 stopping points across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. Approximately 86% of university members use public transport services, walking, or cycling, while only 4% commute by car.

The cost of on-campus accommodation at HKUST for the 2025-26 academic year varies based on room type and student category. 

For undergraduate students, double rooms range from HKD 15,000 to HKD 33,000 per year, while triple rooms cost between HKD 15,000 and HKD 25,000, depending on the hall and whether the student is local or non-local. 

For postgraduate students, single rooms in university apartments or SKCC Hall are priced between HKD 5,000 and HKD 5,500 per month, while double rooms range from HKD 3,000 to HKD 3,500 per month. Married couples can opt for a room priced at HKD 6,200 per month. 

These rates typically include utilities, except for air-conditioning, which is charged based on usage.
